This year, we will gather for a special Shabbat service as we observe Shemini Atzeret with Yizkor and traditional liturgy. From this sacred time of remembrance, our service will transition into the joyful celebration of Simchat Torah, as we rejoice in the “Joy of the Torah” through singing, dancing with the Torah scrolls, and rolling the Torah back to B’reshit (Genesis).
As we rewind the scroll, a passage from each of the Five Books of Moses will be chanted, and concluded with a brief, meaningful teaching highlighting G-d’s enduring covenant and faithfulness to His people.
