00 well I'd like to invite Dr. Daniel to come to stage. Yes. I wish he could come and preach I can step down right now. difficult times That we are going through. more difficult for some let me pray for us as we we dwell in the word of God this morning.

48 Laura again we come to you because we are broken people. we pray that right now as we might be feeling. so many different things so many different circumstances circumstances that each one of us here might be going through and experiencing maybe like the people in Uvalde. But maybe other traumas that we're trying to overcome. I pray that somehow. By the power of your ruach you would put aside all these things. That we might be able to hear what you have to tell us. I pray that you would help me. That you were anoint my lips.

35 There might be able to Proclaim. your word the word of God and that he might go out. so that none of us may live to they Baruch Hashem unchanged whether you would touch our hearts. touch our minds and change us to be a little bit more. like Yeshua Anything his name we pray. amen Okay. It used to be.

20 that when something would break. We would call an expert right? If a pipe would break we would call a plumber. If a computer breaks. We call an IT person, right? If we get sick. We call the doctor. But you know what? today we just Google. Which is Google things? Like could you imagine that 20 20 years ago? Hey my car broke down. Oh, just Google it what? Google what is that it's not even

07 a verb. well You know, we find all sorts of things. on internet right all sorts of information and you know the problem is how do we discern? when that information comes from a reliable source. from an expert what is just another person like us Trying to say well, this is the way I do it. It might work for you. That is something that we have to face today information. Is way more. At hand we can go and find all sorts of information.

52 but we require wisdom to discern whether that information is going to be a popular or not. now I'm sure that there are life circumstances in which we probably don't Google that much like, you know if I need brain surgery. I play not going to Google that and try to do it myself, right? I'm gonna try to find an expert, you know the best neurosurgeon in the city of Dallas. Well if I can't the best neurosurgeon in, Texas Well, how about the best neurosurgeon in the US? Well, it's okay. He probably lives in Dallas anyways. but not we are going to have to find and

39 trustworthy people experts For the important things in life. We cannot just Google everything. but sometimes while this that I just said makes sense. We find ourselves believing. that we we are the main experts. to lead Our Lives that we are the main experts. I know I know what I need to do. I know myself better than anyone else. So I want to be my own expert actually. I am my best expert. My most expert expert is me about myself.

25 I mean you can suggest things but you don't really know me. if we think that we are our main expert. We might. Have a problem. In the passage that we're going to be looking at today this morning. We see. How Yeshua. Is going to meet some experts. some experts Please if you want to read along open your Bibles to the Book of Luke. The Gospel of Luke Chapter 5 and verse 1 we're going to be reading from Luke 5. 1 to 11 So just to give you a little bit of context.

13 For those of you who are not here on Wednesday. Ones that we studied the previous section in which Yeshua had been healing as many people as they were brought to him. So one after the other people were sick were brought to Yeshua and he healed them. All of them all the people that was brought in front of him. So after a while he needed a break. And the crowd went after him. They wanted more. from him so in chapter 4 verse 43 We read that Yeshua told the crowd that he needed to go to other towns to see other people.

00 because Yeshua says I was sent with a purpose to preach the good news of the kingdom of God. That was the purpose to preach the good news of the kingdom of God. And that's what he did. Chapter 4 ends with Yeshua going to preach to synagogues. And then chapter 5 starts. Let's read verse 1 of chapter 5. It happened that the crowds were pressing upon Yeshua to hear the word of God. As he was standing by the lake of kinet. the lake of kinara

45 by the way, this lake is most popularly popularly known as the Sea of Galilee but Look commits. No mistake. It's not a sea. And Luke knows that so he's very precise. Remember, he's a doctor right? He's very precise with his language. It's a lake. So he says a lake and the lake of kinneret which is the name. By which the lake was known in the Tanner in the Hebrew scriptures. by the way things we were talking about Lakes just to give you an idea of the size. of the Sea of Galilee

31 Well, you know White Rock Lake, right? White Rock Lake well The lake of kinare or the Sea of Galilee is more than 50 times larger. Than White Rock Lake. It's about 112 square miles. Okay, hence the idea of it's almost like a like a sea not a lake so it's a big. big piece of water So we see Yeshua standing by this large lake. and the people the crowds pressing upon him So you see the chapter 4 ends up with the crowd. And now chapter 5 starts again with the crowd. It's almost like a character here in this passage. The

18 crowd is trying to find Yeshua now the crowd is expressing upon Yeshua. And it says I they are pressing on him because they want to hear. the word of God This is important. They want to hear something that is important. And therefore they're making every effort to hear it. We're going to remember they didn't have this. They didn't have mics right? They didn't have screens. to see Yeshua by the lake They didn't have online services. So the only way to hear what Yeshua was saying is to be close to Yeshua.

05 So if you have a large crowd. They are going to try to get closer and closer to see to hear what Yeshua is saying. That's what's happening. So this crowd is pressing on Yeshua. They want us they want to hear him. They want to hear the word of God. That's important. Here the word of God. And so what happens? Verse 2 we read when he at this time Yeshua, he saw two boats. standing beside the lake Now the fishermen had left them and were washing the Nets.

51 So it is as if Yeshua is preaching like I'm preaching right now and you know, all the people are coming moving closer. They're not like us standing sitting still as you are, but they were just moving like advancing. And then all the sudden you sure looks back and there are two boats over there. And the boats are empty. And verse through this Christ why they're empty. Because it says that the fishermen the owners of those boats were not there. They have left the boats and they had gone. to clean clean the Nets right after you finish fishing. You're supposed to clean the Nets. So next time they are ready to go, right? You don't

36 want to have them full of seaweed or whatever thing they might have picked up. They need to be clean. So they left the boats and they were cleaning. washing the Nets Now this is another group of people right the crowds. They're hunger. They're hungry for their word to hear the word now these other people. They're almost oblivious of what's Happening. They're just there on the other side a bit farther away. Just cleaning and washing the Nets. They have been working all night. That's tough work. Throwing down letting down their nets all night.

21 They were tired. They were ready to go home. Just washing the Nets lasting. Man, I'm ready to go home. Maybe got get some. Something to eat and go to bed. That that group of people. Was very different from the crowd. right the crowd was They were they were there with energy pushing on we want to hear more. This group the fisherman. They were tired. They were just whining down their day ready to go home. and all the sudden these two groups these two groups are going to collide they're going to meet with each other.

08 And that's what we read in verse 3. We see that getting into one of the boats. that's what you should like it didn't take him much to do. It just says that he got in. Getting into one of the boats Simon's boat. happened to be Yeshua asked him to push out a ways from the land. then sitting down he taught the crowds from the boat. Seems like Yeshua. Is improvising in his sermon right? He's just like, okay. There's about here. I'm gonna go for it. And so

53 He seemingly takes these random action. And it just happens to be. Simon's boat while a coincidence, right? I mean statistically 50% chance but still he got into Simon's boat. hmm Okay. now we have little information. but probably this is How it would have played okay? Simon What? What happens?

39 Can not a man. Clean his Nets like in peace. Come on. Simon someone got into your boat. what the This is incredible. Sir, sir? Excuse me, sir. Yes. This is my boat. Let me play it slow motion. Just my boo, that's perfect. That's perfect. Could

27 you could you just give me a ride and just move the boat a little bit offshore please for me. What? the crowds Yeah, come on man. Give him a ride. Simon this is ridiculous. Okay, come on. Let's go. Get into the boat. Okay, is that all right. Yes. Yeshua sits down and starts teaching Simon thinking

13 what? How long is this gonna take? I'm ready to go home. I had the worst. day at work and now this Okay, I hope. I hope this goes you know this end soon because I'm coming home empty-handed. And I'm gonna be late. What I'm going to tell my wife. I don't know if verse 3 contains all of that But I'm probably sure that it would have played somewhere somehow like that. Let's recap we have seen. One crowd hungry to hear the word of God. We've seen

00 Yeshua preaching and now getting a free ride on Simon's boat. And one group of Tire fishermen trying to go home. That is where we are. At this stage in the story. Now let's pause for a second. Because I want to ask you. how thirsty how hungry are you today? to hear the word of God are you? Leaning in are you actively listening? To hear not my voice. but to hear God's voice

46 How much do you need God's voice in your life? Think about it for a second. truly think for yourself about this question Do you really want to hear? God's voice on this Shabbat You know, sometimes I found myself. pretending pretending I want to hear. God's voice pretending because I'm afraid to hear God's voice. I don't know if I'm ready to hear God's voice. I don't know if I

32 I can't respond to that. And maybe that's your case. on the Shabbat Maybe you're just pretending. You want to hear God's voice? but they've been inside. you're just waiting for you all to be over and go home. Watch some Netflix. By the way, that's the channel. fisherman watch are you ready? For God to interrupt your life on the Shabbat.

21 If God would come and speak to you. And maybe he's doing it right now. Would you be ready? And would you allow him to interrupt? your busy life on the Shabbat in verse 4 we read when Yeshua had finished speaking. He said to Simon. Go out into the deep water. And let your nets down for a catch. now do you realize look does not tell us? what Yeshua was preaching about what we think is the most important part. I mean, I would have loved to know what

08 Yeshua was preaching about. You know. But look doesn't tell us. And that is that is very interesting. Don't you think like Look just recorded in chapter 4 that Yeshua said I'm going to proclaim the good news. of God of the kingdom of God Okay. Now we see Yeshua proclaiming. the news of the kingdom of God and we have zero recording of what he says. I mean, I thought Luke was a doctor. Could have been more precise here. well All he records. Is what Yeshua did after.

55 He finished preaching. and maybe maybe that's the message. Luke wants us. To get this morning. What Yeshua did after? He preached. And what does he do? Well. He goes and commands Simon. Who maybe he was already sitting at the boat? At this stage he was tired. He commenced Simon. Simon why don't you go out? And discuss the Nets again. Go all the way to the deep water. And let your nets down.

43 Now some Simon is the fisherman who owns the boat. We're gonna remember that right? Yeshua is just a guest there and Simon has graciously granted him to to comment about and to preach from it. Now. Yeshua is commanding the owner of the boat. to go back into the lake and let down the nets for a catch. What does Simon reply? this is probably the most important verse In this passage verse 5 Simon replied master We've worked hard all night and cut

28 nothing. but at your word I will let down the Nets. the way Simon replies is very telling You see the first word he uses here when he addresses Yeshua is master. master now look uses a word here. That is the equivalent of of the word rabbi. and is a word that typically The disciples will use in the future. We're gonna remember that at this stage Yeshua has not. Chosen the 12th yet. Okay. But this is the same word that is going to be used. And that's a word.

14 That Simon uses he says Rabbi master. But he maybe was listening to what Yeshua was saying when he was preaching or maybe he's just acknowledging. Yeshua's sort of profession. Well, you're a rabbi. Okay, well rabbi. being a rabbi This is what you need to know rabbi. You know as fisherman we fish at night. I mean I've been doing this for a while now. And not just me all. Respected fishermen they know that fishing happens at night because that's when you get more chances

02 to catch fish. Not in the morning. Okay, we fish at night now. If it wasn't enough. rabbi we've been fishing all night. all night We went all over the place. We throw our Nets 120 times. And you know how many fish we caught? zero and so You're telling me now a rabbi. Which I mean I'm not saying that you're in our expert on Torah, you know. You probably are but you're telling me a fisherman.

48 Which I can tell you. I know a little bit about fishing. I mean, that's what I do for a living other than tonight was which was terrible. You're telling me to go now in the middle of the day after not fishing anything at night tired. And cast The Net again. Okay. Let me process that for a second. This is a make any sense. but See this, but that we see here. It's just amazing. Because Simon has exposed the facts. He has exposed the scientific knowledge about fishing.

33 This is how fishing should happen. He's explained that to Yeshua in case you're sure there's no and after explaining all that there's a bat. now but the same way in English same way in Greek. It's a very short word. Just two letters in Greek the but but it just means so much. because we have the reality. the scientific reality that Simon and all the fishermen know and then we have yeshuas request. And apparently they stand against each other. There's a contrast. Well, this is what we know.

19 We shouldn't do it according to what we know and then we have the rabbi's petition request that we do it anyways. against all experts opinions Yeshua Is commanding Simon? to do something and the most fascinating thing Is that Simon agrees? that goes against anything like come on, he's tired. He knows he's not gonna work. But he agrees. now look at the basis upon which he agrees on

06 this he says but at your word not gonna do this I'm not gonna do this because everything I know I'm not gonna use my skills. I'm not going to use any of that. I'm gonna do this. by your word at your word and there's something important for us to learn about that this morning. If Yeshua is the word of God. We should be listening. to what he says we don't know. We'll have the trash that Yeshua. Did it's not recorded, but we see

53 the effects. on Simon as he trusts this trusts Yeshua and thus what he is asking of him. In spite everything Simon. Goes as tired as his. With clean Nets. I just finished cleaning them. And throws the net again. in the dip Have you ever been? at that same spot when you were hearing God's voice. But you had a lot of objections.

42 Did you trust? his voice or did you object? Now is human nature. that we only come to God when we have exhausted all of our options. you know if someone says You know show me show me what's in is. I would say well. That's an example of the way sin has wired our brains. We're only always going to try our options first. And one everything is lost and there's no hope. then the list of the Believers

27 start praying, right? Only when we are desperate. When we realize that we cannot do anything and that we need to be saved. We are ready then to listen to God's voice. As we were preparing this this week. Marcus said our greatest disappointments. Are his greatest appointments? our greatest disappointments Are his greatest? appointments So if you find today in a spot you find yourself in a spot of desperation. That's a good spot to be.

14 Because that's where you are ready to listen to God's voice. and Simon probably was a similar spot no catch no money. No food. so Simon after hearing Yeshua he decides to trust. And we read in verse 6 and 7. When they had done this Simon was not alone. He was with other fishermen. They caught so many fish that their Nets began to break. So they signal to their Partners in the other boat to come and help them. They came. And they feel both boats.

01 So full that they began to sing. Okay. The catch was so big. that the two Nets or the the Nets were breaking. the two boats were sinking This is not a regular catch. Maybe you're sitting there thinking. God cannot feel my emptiness. think twice because the God creator of all things can bless our lives.

47 beyond our imagination so that they will overflow. And others will be able. To praise him because of it. We often are empty because we try to fill our lives with little things. with small things maybe things like this little phones, right? They feel in a pocket. Maybe fun free time pleasures reality is those things leave us empty, right? Because they cannot feel us. They cannot feel us they are not the real. catch

36 but when it comes to God God can feel the most inward recesses of your soul. because he has created you and he has created me. now what is just baffles me to think every single time? He has created us. To feel us up. We're not supposed. To dry up. to wonder empty in this world God created us. To filled us up. and you know What is supposed to be filling us up?

27 himself Not even God's blessings. Which are great, you know who doesn't love great brisket. Who doesn't love good clothing AC? Those things are good. But they are not supposed to feel us. God is supposed to be the one who feels. us up if you try to feel your life with anything else. You're just gonna be fine. You're just gonna find. That it's gonna end up empty again. the good news of the kingdom of God are this

14 that God send his son Yeshua in order that he could be with us. If you get Messiah. You don't get riches and blessings. and prosperity you get God in your life. That is the most amazing blessing that an infinite God. Would come and dwell in a broken person. and holy and broken person only through the blood of the Lamb. only through the blood of Yeshua that is how big God's catch is

02 is incomparable. is incomparable and that's how big that catch of fish was. It was so big. It was so utterly big. that professional fishermen have never ever seen something like this before. This is what Simon says when he sees this verse 8 through 10. but when Simon Peter saw this he fell down at yeshua's niece. saying Go away from me Lord. For I am a sinful man. For amazement had greet him and all who were

50 with him over the catch of fish. They had netted. So also Jacob and John cbd's sons who were partners with Simon. when Simon saw this when Simon saw a catch that could not be contained by any means. He asked Yeshua. Mate, where did you learn to fish? Is that what he said? Did he say I want to fish like this? Could you teach me? That's pretty pretty good technique that you're using here.

37 No. He was not interested in a scientific explanation of what just happened. And I got to say that sometimes. We miss. God's miraculous intervention intervention because we are so focused in trying to explain things away and give the scientific explanation for every single thing. But Simon. Being the expert on the matter on the subject of fishing. He knew. That what he had just witnessed was a miracle a divine intervention. Right in front of his eyes.

27 No, he didn't say that. He didn't ask. for advice he falls down on yeshua's knees. He falls down and yeshua's knees. and ask Yeshua to live go away depart from me. Witnessing. What Yeshua just did creates in Simon a feeling of unworthiness a feeling of unworthiness. He realizes who Yeshua is and who he is. Yeah, the expert fisherman.

15 all the sudden is that yeshua's niece? feeling unworthy and you know, this sin reminds me of that one with Isaiah when he witnessed the glory of God. He cries out. Who am I? I am ruined. because I am an unclean a man of an clean lips who lives among people often clean lips and my eyes have seen their Glory. of a holy God that is what Simon seems to be experiencing now. Just leave.

01 Leave I'm Unworthy of you being on my boat. You own everything? It's not that he's confessing. a sin he's just realizing his sinful condition before Yeshua and lastly you realize here Simon changes the way he addresses Yeshua. Go away from me. Lord now some of your translations may say master again, which is unfortunate. Because before Simon said

49 Master as well, right we said it was equivalent of rabbi. That's not the work. He's using here. in the Greek existing a different word hideous low, Lord and his just saying you are above me. You are way high above me. You're a different level. I thought I was an expert at fishing, but you are Lord. Just leave please. I don't know. I don't know who I'm dealing with, but I'm Unworthy of being. In the same boat with you. So Simon recognizes yeshua's higher

35 authority. Now the text tells us that this reaction had a reason. It says that Simon was amazed at the catch. again, professional fishermen experts they have been fishing all their lives. They've seen it all colors. and now in front of this miraculous catch they have no words. They are completely and utterly amazed. Now we are not fisherman right for the most part. I maybe there's someone among you

20 has experience fishing. I definitely don't have experience fishing. So it's it's a bit difficult for me to put myself in the shoes of Simon. But I'm a doctor. so for me I was thinking about this and it's like it would have been like you know one of those nights in ER when someone comes and and you know that very slim chances that this person is gonna make it right. and so, you know You're bringing in the whole team and we're all trying to give all the meds, you know, bring the defibrillator and we follow the protocol and we you know, we keep going. And when we think that we've end the protocol.

05 You know we decided we're gonna keep going we're gonna keep going even though is there's no response. We're going to keep going. And you know after a couple of hours going at this pace we're exhausted. You know, there's been compressions. There's been ventilations. There's been defibrillations. There's been medication going in nurses running. Everyone is exhausted. and so finally someone has a courage. to say okay guys That's it. We did everything we could. And then all the sudden. a marketing guy comes to the door

52 and he says guys I have very this new medicine is really good and he tells all about the medicine and we spend some time there and and we when he's done. He says by the way that guy laying on the stretcher over there. Could you go and do one more defibrillation, you know one more kick. Are you serious? That's what Simon. And the fisherman were experiencing. the guy came back the guy came back

42 You know. If I would have been there. I probably would have felt like Simon. I mean in that ER room after the guy came back. in verse 10 second part we read by Yeshua said to Simon. Do not be afraid. Do not be afraid. From now on you will be catching men. I mean Fear is the most normal. emotion when you face the glory of God when You Face God's power in action. Doing what cannot be done by our expertise.

32 Simon was afraid I would have been to. but Yeshua says do not be afraid I get it. I get it. You were not expecting this. Look Simon. Fish is not important. people are money is not important. people are your job is not important. God's kingdom is so from now on. You're gonna be catching men.

19 Aren't you tired this morning? Maybe this week you went for a long time. casting your nets in whatever you do. And we cast our Nets obviously each one of us in many different ways. After all your week catching casting your nets. and getting crumbs in return aren't you tired? And you desperate to feel them up? To have a life changing catch. on this Shabbat Listen to Yeshua. he says come to me. all of you who are weary all of you who are tired of casting your net

07 of trying hard. All of you who are burdened. We're facing. struggles pains come to me and I will give you shalom. I will give you rest. Yeshua wants to give you rest on the Shabbat. verse 11 So when they had brought the boats to The Landing. They left everything. and follow him Do you remember when Elisha? followed Elijah

55 this fisherman. They left their tools behind. They left their boats behind. Why? well They didn't need them anymore to catch men, right? Those are tools you used to catch fish. But if you're not gonna be catching fish, why would you take those? to catch men now, could you imagine? It would have been absurd. If Simon would have said okay boys. Let's load it. And then just follow Jesus. follow Yeshua dragging the boats around everywhere.

44 That would have been completely absurd. I mean how long after they would have to get tired? How long after before they would have lost? track of Yeshua, he would have just You know become farther and farther away because they're dragging boats. Soon he would have appeared in the distance. almost hard to see they would have continued dragging their boats around come on boys. following your shoes very hard after a while you imagine what would have happened?

30 What is Yeshua? What is he? I don't know didn't you see him last time he was like turning that alley. I don't know. You know what since we have the boats whether we just go for a fishing in the lake. is that us are we trying to follow Messiah? dragging our baggage around Because if that's the case. It's going to be so hard. unless we live everything behind and follow Messiah follow Yeshua.

20 without any baggage we cannot follow him. We're gonna exhaust ourselves. We're gonna kill ourselves doing that. He's gonna go. He's going. He's going today. Are you ready to follow? Are you ready to be interrupted to drop everything and follow? Do not be absurd. Do not try to drag your boat. Whatever that is again. He may be a relationship. It may be. a job That you're attached to I don't know. He may be pain. He might be a

06 car that you're holding on to whatever it is is going to drag you down. From the creator of the universe the only one that can fill up your life. the fishing The netting that's not gonna do it So just drop it. And follow the one that can fill you up. Today I invite you to let Yeshua cast. Your life for his glory. He will take the net of your sins. That sometimes entangles you. and Tangles us he will take the net of your sins away.

53 And fill you up with God's presence. If you come to him. And you know what? There is nothing better. There is nothing better. That you and Yeshua being on the same boat. There's nothing better that you and Yeshua being on the same boat. Let me pray for us. Albino, malkeinu our father and our King. We thank you so much this morning. For your son Yeshua are Messiah. Because he is able to feel us up the way

38 you design us. To be filled up. in the first place We thank you. because he gave up his life. To give us ours. Because he sacrificed. a perfect life for us imperfect people we come to you in this Shabbat and we pray. That you will help us hear your voice. That we would truly. and openly with Open Hearts and Minds here your voice the voice of your and that we would be ready to go.

26 That we would drop everything. Knowing that we have failed. to feel the Nets but now we are going. At your word by your voice. And I pray that this I pray that this will become a reality for all of us here today in this. in this room and Beyond and all these we pray becham yeshuamish. Heno. amen May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his countenance to worry you. And give you shalom.

13 Yeah, very kind. there is I don't like we who never he said I don't have. This Emily. Oh. my sure mishina in the name of Yeshua Messiah amen
