Food Pantry Experience: This experience is a simulation of what it is like to be one of the food pantry clients of Jewish Family Services. The teens receive a detailed background about some of Jewish Family Services’ very own clients’ experiences in order to provide a glimpse of what life is like for them. We will engage in conversations about these stories and food insecurity. During the simulation, Jewish Family Services will provide a client’s financial situation, including their grocery budget for the week. We will then walk across the street to Walmart and let the kids shop for a week’s worth of groceries, using the budget in their client’s story. We are asking participants to bring five dollars with them to this experience for their grocery budget. This experience will last around two hours.
