00 Part of the reason I started. will not start it but part of the reason I I was so clear about mentioning the love from one spouse to another. As an important element of returning the hearts of the fathers to their children and the children to the fathers. Is because over the first? about 12 weeks of the year there this year there have been I think the number was eight was either eight or ten. murders committed by the husband against the wife in the land of Israel

49 to devastating horrific issue But the reality is is we haven't heard about it because also Israel is in great turmoil. right now And because of the great turmoil it gets overshadowed by everything else and if you haven't realized how much turmoil Israel is in. is It's pretty unreal. In fact, I was commenting to my mother. Sometime in the last couple days. They're speaking. Against all of the leaders are speaking against a potential Civil War. in Israel Hey, which in order to even mention that means that

36 it's a possibility. And I started thinking about and and realize so Israel turns 75 this year. And it wasn't too long after our nation's birth. Just a little bit about a decade longer was about 85 years. That we experienced our civil war. And I don't know if that's something that happens in the progression of a Nation. I don't know. I just happened to notice. It's relatively similar. So you guys can all continue to pray for Israel. I know we talk about prayer for Israel. We talk about praying for Israel. We talk about praying for Jerusalem. And usually we think about the threats that come from outside. We think about Iran we think about all of the other neighbors that

23 perhaps have ill intentions toward the people but But really this piece is a discontent growing from within. Turning brother against brother family against family. So you guys can continue to pray for Israel? and in reality probably if you're sitting here, you probably already believe this. or you're close to it. In reality. The only thing that can bring that piece is Yeshua. Yeshua is the only one. That can heal the inner wounds. both individually and nationally

08 both in Israel and in every other nation in the world you see this is totally not my message, but I'm going down the path anyways. You see it's in it's incumbent upon us. To exude to walk with Yeshua to the point that other people recognize. That there's something different. So that it helps turn them. Not to us. but to the Lord so they can experience reconciliation to the Lord. And then draw nearer to him. in light of that

56 Let's continue in our Passage. We are in Luke chapter 18. Starting at Verse 18, but before I get into the chapter. I'm going to do what I always do I'm going to do a little recap. first of all, we're in the Book of Luke and We are. quickly moving through in fact if you know, I don't know if you guys realize this but the scripture say man makes his plans and God directs his steps. So if if my plans are correct. Then we'll finish the Book of Luke before the high. Holy days. And we'll finish it toward the end of summer in in

43 the month of August. somewhere in the month of August maybe early September So we are it's very interesting because we've been in Luke for what is 15 months. I think is that right? Almost a month of chapter. But it's been it's been a good time. But so now we're in Luke and and just as a reminder to go back to the beginning when we're talking about a book. We're given the purpose very early on Luke is writing to Theophilus. Now I told I've shared with you my views on Theophilus before I don't believe that Theophilus. is A generic term. That's for everyone. I think Luke is writing to someone specific in his name is Theophilus.

29 Now I also happen to believe that Theophilus was Jewish. Most people believe that Theophilus was not Jewish. And that Luke was not Jewish, but I also happened to hold that I think I think Luke is Jewish and and to me when you have this understanding that it's a Jewish man writing to a Jewish man. It's no longer an attack on the Jewish people when you read particular passages in the Book of Luke that seem to be condemning. It actually is a self-critique of our own selves of our own people. which is very different by the way when somebody else says oh you people It's very different when we say our people versus you people.

15 It's very different critique. And it's understood very differently, but but Luke is writing it at Theophilus and he says Therefore your Excellency. So if Theophilus has a title. Therefore your Excellency is the Book of Luke chapter 1 verses 3 and 4 Therefore your Excellency since I have carefully investigated all these things from the beginning all of these things we're talking about Yeshua and everything that's that's happened there and it seemed good to me that I too should write you an accurate in order narrative so that or for the purpose of so that you might know how well-founded or how for sure or how certain are the things about which you have been taught. So I know I've said it countless times Well at least whatever 15 times.

04 Probably two. So at least 30 times. I know I've said at least 30 times. but he's writing to Theophilus and when he says so that you might know for sure or for certain the things which you've already been taught to me. It indicates actually Theophilus is already a follower of Yeshua and maybe he's experiencing a little bit of trial or or needs to be reassured in his faith. And so Luke recognizes that he's writing this whole account The Book of Luke. And subsequently acts as well two Theophilus for the purpose. Of encouraging him or I sometimes we lose the force of encouraging but encouraging simply means to push.

52 courage into someone You know to like literally push it into them. So when he's writing to push courage into Theophilus, he's gonna bring up things that that are going to do that and in this understanding, we also recognize that in the Book of Luke. He's addressing the coming kingdom of God the kingdom is coming down from heaven, but also the fact that in the at the same time that the kingdom is coming down the king subjects have to be bringing their lives into alignment with him and every step or every time they come closer into alignment with the king is one more step that the kingdom is closer to Drawing Near. So at some point the kingdom will come up and the kingdom will come down

39 and they will meet each other in the king will reign upon his throne in Jerusalem. We Up until this point Yeshua has been ministering in the Galilee and we recognize a couple weeks ago, maybe two months ago. A couple weeks two months. That's a couple months a few weeks. However, however you want to qualify it. We recognize two chapters ago that Yeshua is now in the process of heading from the Galilee to Jerusalem. In fact nine chapters ago. It says that Yeshua set his face or turned his face to Jerusalem. In other words. He became determined and it's from that point onward that it's always going up to Jerusalem.

27 In in chapter 17, it's reaffirmed that Yeshua is on his way to Jerusalem. That he's passing the border between the Galilee and Samaria if you guys can pop up that picture again. This is a different picture this week. But just so you can see it kind of in that little green area where the pink of the upper Galilee the some the purple of the Samaria in the green of the decapolis all come together. This is where the outer boundaries of Samaria and the Galilee Are and Yeshua is likely following this green line down on the on the border of Korea. And then next no not next week in in two weeks. I think when we start chapter 19. He's coming into the city of

14 Jericho. So you see Jericho just there above the Dead Sea right at the end of the green line. And all this time he's making his way up to Jerusalem last week. We we continued the conversation that Yeshua was having about the coming Kingdom. And we we couched it in terms of prayer prayer in the Kingdom. Excuse me. The first 17 verses we talked about persistent prayer perceptive prayer, and then pure prayer. Or being like a child when coming to the Lord. I say all of that because it's important to understand the context of the passage that we're studying. So

00 now we're studying starting in verse 18 of the 18th chapter of the Book of Luke. Verse 18 one of the leaders asked him good rabbi What should I do to obtain life actually, let me let me just back up just for the sake of everyone. Let's go back up to 15. Now. They were bringing even their babies to Yeshua so that he might touch them but when the disciples saw this they began rebuking them but Yeshua called for them saying let the little children come to me and do not hinder me for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these amen. I tell you or truly I tell you whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. And one of the leaders asked him good Rabbi, what should I do to obtain eternal life?

46 Yeshua said to him. Why are you calling me? Good? No one is good. But God, you know the mitzvot don't commit adultery. Don't murder. Don't steal don't give false testimony honor your father and mother. He replied I've kept all of these since I was a boy. On hearing this Yeshua said to him there is one thing you still lack. Sell whatever you have distribute the proceeds to the poor and you will have the richest and you will have riches in heaven then come follow me. But when the man heard this he became very sad because he was very rich. Yeshua looked at him and said how hard it is for people with wealth to enter the kingdom of God. It's easier for a camel to pass through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Those who heard this asked then who can be saved?

35 And he said what is impossible humanly is possible with God. So Yeshua addresses the question at hand. There's a leader. It's interesting because this is the in this case. This leader is undefined if I can put it that way. He's a leader. He's not a Pharisee. He's not something else. He's just a leader according to the text. And it seems likely actually that the leader is not a Pharisee. Because up until this point Yeshua. And Luke, really Luke as the the what did I what did I couldn't call Luke? I didn't call him the author. I called him the something else

21 the one through whom the spirit wrote the book The describe. I think that's what I use for Luke. Luke The Scribe uses this term. and he's been scribing all the way talking about the Pharisees and actually at this point he doesn't and so it's actually very interesting because from this point onward in the Book of Luke the Pharisees begin to disappear from the story. I don't know if you've ever noticed that but they actually don't reappear throughout the rest of the Book of Luke. It seems for 19 chapters that we've had an adversary. With the Pharisees from the Pharisees in Yeshua, but from now on they actually begin to disappear in terms of the adversarial role.

08 I was very striking to me because it the the Pharisees are often utilized in the Christian world to condemn Jewish people in terms of their relation or their rejection of Yeshua, but actually from this point onward, they don't exist in the narrative. This term speaks to a person that's of a particular status either in the communally socially or politically so the person's a leader. In this person says good Rabbi. What should I do to obtain eternal life? Let me let me just let me rephrase that for you so that you can better understand what he's asking. good rabbi

53 by doing what shall I inherit? in other words By my Works, what is it that I'm going to inherit? Yeshua is can I just tell you she was one of the Most Fascinating People he's so perceptive and insightful when someone comes to him he says Why do you call me? Good? He doesn't address the question immediately. He addresses. Why do you call me? Good? and it's really interesting because in rabbinical text and other text outside of the New Testament and really even outside of this instance. There's no adjectives that are given to the term Rabbi or teacher certainly while they're alive.

40 It's just Rabbi or teacher. So my questions are I've got a couple questions. Number one is the man sincere. Because if he's sincere and he really recognizes Yeshua is good. Then he's been listening to what Yeshua was teaching and he recognizes the good of it. On the other hand is the man using flattery. To try to obtain a particular answer. I actually don't have an answer for that. So you guys can can wrestle with that issue? but in you say he just says.

26 Who is good? What does he says? Let me read the words. Why are you calling me? Good? No one is good except for God. So you can by inference you can perhaps say that she was denying being good, but he doesn't actually say it. I do this with my children all the time. In fact, I did a dinner the other night. and I said we were talking about talking about fish or something in like that and I said Oh, no, we were talking about the part of the animals. I can't remember. Anyways, whatever was I said something I said. I said well. That's this and this and this.

12 But I but I never actually answered their question, which was did you catch it? I can't remember the exact question. Now. I'm realized I just got down this path and I just told you an example with no. With no really words and now I sound like my children. anyways Yeshua does not deny being a good teacher or good Rabbi, but in fact he directs the person to God. You see others. Could be good, but no one can compare to the goodness of God. Therefore according to Darrell Bach. This becomes a warning to others to not be impressed.

58 by human credentials If no one can compare to God then it means that each person and specifically in this case this leader or ruler has to acknowledge that they've broken some commandment somewhere along the line. I don't know if you ever think about that. But if God is all is the ultimate. And and none of us are him. Then it means that we've done something wrong somewhere along the way and we have to find that and acknowledge it. Yeshua speaks directly to him to this leader. Saying that he knows the mitzvote and that

45 Yeshua and then Yeshua list some out for him. So he says it's almost like Yeshua casually gives him some examples. Don't commit adultery. Don't murder. Don't steal do not give false witness honor your father and mother. I don't know about you, but that's a very odd ordering. Of the of Commandments that are serving to represent the Ten Commandments. in fact Let me just go right here. He gives these four Commandments 6 through 9. And then he goes back and gives number five. And he he omits one through four and number 10. I just sometimes I know I think I said this last

32 week when Yeshua omit something or when he begins a line of a reference from the tanak. Whatever comes after that line is what he's trying to hit. So when he omits. one of these it seems like there's something that he's perceiving in this man in this ruler that would seem to go against the one that he's omitted. So in in response that yeshua's declaration that all are compared all are lacking when compared to the goodness of God. This man's response is he's kept everything since he was a boy. You see Yeshua says no one is good. But God. In other words, we've all done something along the way

20 and this man comes back and replies and says, I haven't done anything. Now, I don't know if you catch this, but he's elevating his position. This this ruler. by saying this and Yeshua says well. I know you think you haven't done anything. But you lack one thing. Sell whatever you have distribute it to the poor and you will have riches in heaven then come and follow me. Again, I'm telling you Yeshua is one of the most Discerning and observant. people when it comes to others perhaps it was this man's own confidence in his own sinlessness that

09 urged Yeshua to keep prodding. We don't know. But Yeshua Targets this man's weakness and it happens to be his possessions. I wonder if his possessions. He began to covet. From his neighbors and continued to build their upon. the one that Yeshua left out Now you see all of these ones that Yeshua mentioned except for number 10. All of them deal with communal relationships how we behave in a community toward one another. And we're going to come back to that in just a few minutes. when the man heard this when you when Yeshua says sell all of your possessions

57 sell all your possessions and give it to the poor and you'll have riches in Heaven Come and follow me when the man heard this he became sad. Because he was very wealthy. He became deeply distressed because he was very rich. And it seems to to kind of stop there for just a moment. I want to make a couple notes while right here. first of all We're going to continue through this passage, but the story remains unfinished. It could be that the leader or ruler later decided to follow the Council of Yeshua and came back around. We're never given that part of the story. So even though it seems that this moment that this person is has been written off. I want to tell you it's never the end of the story

44 until it's the end of the story. There's always an opportunity later. I also want to make another note because this verse has been utilized this way. Yeshua is not against the wealthy. Or the rich whatever term you want me to use. He shines light into areas. Within people to show where that person is not fully committed to him. If that area happens to be wealth, so be it if the area happens to be. something else that I can't think of off the top of my head. So be it. He's trying to illuminate whatever it is that's causing a lack of trust or a

30 lack of dependence. Upon God in this case. It's the trust or the dependence upon one's own ability or one's own wealth. You know I mentioned. I mentioned this. several weeks back Oh, no, maybe this was last week. No, it's definitely last week. we often think about what we do. Or maybe we're like this ruler what by our doings or by our works. What are we going to inherit and last week? I said on this coming Friday. You're going to get a paycheck.

15 Is that paycheck that was yesterday? Is that paycheck by your own effort? Yes, and no. Yes, we do the work. God tells us to do the work. But the increase is really up to him. It just seems today that we when we do a work we punch in punch out of our time clocks, whatever it is that we do. And that we're promised we have this contract that we're guaranteed to get however many dollars per hour so that at the end of a week of 40 hour week or whatever we get. However many dollars. It just seems that it's the direct result. of our work

01 Now we planted a garden my my children my wife and my children and I we planted a garden about a month ago did all of the work. I think I even mentioned this maybe two weeks ago did all of the work, you know plowed the ground pulled all the weeds planted seeds watered stuff started growing. And then I remember actually I did it mention this two weeks ago because I said, please pray that it doesn't freeze. Because you know we did all of that work. And then guess what happened? It froze or it got close enough that it killed the seeds and all of the work that we had. We have no increase. You see when we think about our jobs. We think in terms of paychecks.

47 But biblically it's the the paycheck comes from what the ground produces. In the labor you put into it in the ground produce. Our labor does not necessarily produce. positive gains because in the middle God has to do things to make it work. God has to cause it to rain God has to cause it to be Sunshine. He has to cause the bees to bring around to pollinate the flowers to to then spread all of the all the pollination things and and to cause everything to grow and then after all of that we think yes by our labor we made these cucumbers grow.

34 But really we didn't do anything. We planted them. And maybe we watered it. But other than that, we did nothing we sat and we watched it grow. So it's important to recognize that our increased comes from God and not from ourselves that does not by the way release us from hard labor. You know. the the Torah tells us that you should take off on Shabbat you refrain from labor. But you know what also it means by saying that you work six days. So all of a sudden now, we have two days labor free

21 in our society. So we only work five days. Anyways, let's get back to the text. Where are we here we go. Yeah, here we go. So Yeshua, so what happens here? Yeshua heard this let's see. He says I've kept these things since I was youth Yeshua says one thing you still lack sell everything but upon hearing things these things he became deeply distressed for he was very rich gazing at him. There's there's almost no no time in between here gazing at him. Yeshua said how hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God.

07 It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. after that Yeshua continues because the people then go Who can be saved? I just want to stop here and point out. The needle going the the camel going through an eye of a needle. camels are how big it doesn't matter. How big? Because I don't know anything other than a thread that can go through the eye of a needle or maybe a fishing wire. Through the eye of a needle, but just think about how big of an animal is. I mean how big a camera an animal? Okay, an animal is a camel a camel is an animal think about how big a camel is

53 and trying to fit that through the eye of a needle. That would take a long time. It's impossible to fit it. Yeshua says. Yeshua says this it's impossible. For people for for rich people to enter the kingdom of God. Do you see what the immediate response is who can be saved? That's it. The immediate response by those around them if it's impossible to to enter the kingdom. For a rich person if it's this if it's that difficult who can be saved. And yeshua's response is actually.

40 encouraging to us because what he says is what is humanly impossible. Is possible with God? In other words trust in the Lord, don't trust in your effort. Don't trust in your abilities or in your works trust in the Lord and entering into the kingdom of God becomes possible. it's not possible by our doing you remember how I phrased the question from the Pharisee of excuse me from the the leader by doing what will I inherit or what shall I inherit? Nothing by doing we inherit nothing

25 But rather it's by trusting in the Lord and allowing his Redemptive power to overcome all things that nothing becomes impossible for him. Peter interjects at this moment up until this point I just want to say I want to I want to make a note up until this point Peter Every Time Peter interjects. It seems like he's sinking. Like like he begins to drown. Whatever it is. It's not good enough for Yeshua, but Peter interjects here. and Peter interjects and he says Look, we left our homes and followed you. And Yeshua answered them. Yes, I tell you that everyone who's left house

11 wife brothers parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will receive many times as much in the world to come then in this world. Peter's responding to what? Yeshua was teaching saying we've done that and Peter is not reboot rebuked by Yeshua. In fact, he's Affirmed. Through this because Peter's statement stands in juxtaposition to that of this ruler. And Yeshua continues with a very strong hyperbole. Which means you leave everything behind in other words everything that you could possibly trust in ahead of God you leave behind? It doesn't mean that you leave everything behind. It just means

57 that your sole priority. Your soul dependence has to be upon the Lord. And then Yeshua continues and he says he says in verse 31 then taking the 12 Yeshua said to them we are now going up to Jerusalem. Where everything written through the prophets about the son of man will come true. For he will be handed over to the Nations and he will be ridiculed insulted and spat upon then after they have beaten him. They will kill him but on the third day, he will rise. However, they understood none of this. Its meaning had been hidden from them and they had no idea what he was talking about. Yeshua begins to explain the depth of what's going to happen to him.

44 Really the death of what's going to happen to them? Because Yeshua says we are now going up to Jerusalem. He does not exclude them from this by the way, we are going up. To Jerusalem where everything written through the prophets about the son of man will come true. Yeshua is including them in this in this walk with him. These twelve and others who were there at this time will walk the path with him? So the question when we read this the question should naturally come what is it? That's written. What are the 12 expecting and who is the son of man by the way Yeshua begins to speak about himself in third person?

29 Yeshua goes the son of man. All of the things that are written about him will happen to him. It's one of those moments like where we step out and we're like ah. We look at our children and we go your father. Needs this time today. Separate from you or with you whatever it is and they're like wait. What are you talking about Dad? Yeshua says the son of man all that's written about the son of man will will happen and and then he begins to list out all of the things that will happen. And then Luke gives some commentary and says they didn't understand any of it. So, how can we get to that this wholehearted trust in

15 the Lord in understanding what Yeshua is doing and then also They have no idea what's going on. How can we reconcile those two positions? Well first let's talk about what is written about the son of man. At this point I want to recommend a book to you. It's called the Jewish Gospels. by Daniel boyarin and he traces the usage of the son of man certainly in terms of expectancy during the first century during the time of Yeshua, he traces the usage of the son of man back to Daniel chapter 7 verse 13 earlier in Daniel 7. There is one sitting on a throne who's called the Ancient of Days.

02 And then another comes along one like the son of man coming with the clouds. And this imagery is utilized. This coming coming with the clouds, by the way, this imagery is utilized only in reference to the Divine being. But now we have the Ancient of Days and and a younger one who's like a son of man. And this is where the term comes from. The son of man was given in Daniel 7. The son of man was given Dominion Honor sovereignty so that all people of all languages might serve him and it says his kingdom will not

49 be destroyed. This is all in Daniel 7. So when we I don't know. I don't know about you. I don't know about you, but the son of man. In modern modern times has been utilized to refers to the humanity of Yeshua. Yeshua was like one of us. He was a son of man. But actually that's a reversal of what the term actually means or or came to mean during the time of Yeshua. During this time. The son of man was this this Divine being a delivering King a ruling Messiah who would establish justice and righteousness and it would spread throughout all

35 of the nations in his kingdom would not pass away. So when Yeshua says the son of man is going up to Jerusalem. So that everything that is written about him will come to pass. I don't know about you guys, but when I'm giving instructions to my children and they hear the first thing that I want to hear that they want to hear everything that follows they miss it. Hey, we're going to the park today. But first you have to clean your room when we go into the park, let's go get in the car I'm going out to the car right now. They totally miss the let's let's you got to clean your room first.

20 So you see Yeshua says the son of man is coming. We're going up to Jerusalem and everything that's written about the son of man is going to come to pass. They're like, yeah, let's go. And then he says and he's gonna suffer and he's gonna do this. They miss it. Their ears have been closed because they they have this this idea of what's going to happen already, which is a correct idea. It's a correct conception. It's just a Miss apart first. In fact, it's interesting because the son of man going up to Jerusalem and then experiencing the suffering. in the rejection in the dismissal and the pain and the suffering

07 is Akin or is is as likely to happen as the camel passing through the eye of the needle. You see what I'm saying? It's not going to happen in the Jewish mind the Jewish Messiah is coming to build the Kingdom right now. There's no other part to it. And yet what's impossible with God? I mean what's impossible with us is really possible with God. It's this it's this back and forth that we see here. The people are expecting. a delivering Messiah a people a messiah that would set the people free from

53 their bondage. to Rome similar to Moses who set them free from their bondage in Egypt That's what the people are expecting someone who comes and delivers them takes up all of the hard work casts off all of those who are pressing them. I want you to understand. During the time of Yeshua. the oppression of Rome was it's almost incomprehensible to us today certainly us who live in the United States of America. Perhaps if you live.

38 in a country with a tyrannical ruler who oppresses the people. Perhaps you understand a portion of what it was like. back then but not only Was it was Roma tyrannical ruler? It was another people. Who came in and forced their Paradigm upon Israel? Think about this Israel is the chosen Nation by which God ministers to the world and there's they're at this point subject to Roman rule. So when we hear son of man, we don't necessarily catch the connotation that his

23 disciples here his disciples go. Yes. The son of man we're going up to Jerusalem. That's where he's going to sit upon his throne. And it's all gonna happen. in fact It's after this passage. In the book of I think it's in the Book of Matthew. I think it's in Matthew 21, Maybe. Matthew 20 It's in Matthew 20, which is the correlating passage. It's right after this discourse that zebedee's Sons come up to Yeshua with their mother and she says can my son sit on your right and on your left. You think she has in mind the cross? Or do you think she has in mind that Yeshua is

09 gonna sit upon the throne in Jerusalem as ruler? She knows that's what she's expecting. That's what all of them are expecting. So much so that they miss what Yeshua says. Yeshua says he will be handed over to the Gentiles and he will be mocked and insulted and spat upon. After they had scourged him they will kill him. Yet on the third day. He will rise. again these references

54 The Yeshua is speaking here. They look back to Isaiah 52 and 53 to Psalm 118 to Psalm 18 Psalm. 22 Psalm 32 Psalm 69, all of these passages contain references to To humiliation and scourging and beating and something like something along those lines. None of these passage can passages contain the terminology the son of man. So you can see how easy it is to to miss the connect between the son of man and being beaten. Being handed over to the nation's ridiculed insulted spat upon.

40 beaten and killed and after all of that Luke the narrator comments concerning the disciples at this point and says that they fail to understand what Yeshua was talking about. Because the meaning had been hidden from them. Was the meaning hidden? Or was it their preconceptions that hid the meaning? Or was it the act of work of God to hide the meaning? The text doesn't specify. But let's just talk about misconceptions and the active work of God. Sometimes in our lives here. We're coming to the application section sometimes in our lives.

26 We have misconceptions. That do not permit us to understand what it is that God's doing. At other times in our lives God hides what he's doing because he knows if he gave us the end right now that we would figure out everything that's in between and that we would back off and we would turn a different direction. because we don't see ourselves as having enough to endure everything that has to go in between if At this point just think about this. Yeshua is saying the son of man's going up to Jerusalem. to be ridiculed spat upon beaten and killed

13 Yeshua is literally telling them what the end is going to be. And they miss it. Now part of that I would say is the grace of God. at some point all of them will come into the real understand the reality of what happens and they'll all go through their own trials and tribulations at that moment. And in fact almost all of them come back around. So what does all of this mean for you and me today? number one

00 I want you to take away two things. I'm gonna I'm gonna go deeper into those two things, but two primary things and really listen I can just say one thing. The one thing that you need to take away is in everything trust in the Lord. That's the number one thing everything else the rest the measurables outward evidence of fruit is the effect of a growing relationship with him. when we trust him Everything else is a byproduct. It doesn't necessarily mean we do all of these other things and it grows our relationship with him. No, it's actually the other way around our relationship grows with him and out of that growing relationship. Everything else begins to happen as a byproduct. And it's that fruit that people are like, whoa, what's going on with

46 that bird that person used to be a horrible person. I'm sorry, I wasn't pointing over it's someone in particular over here. That person was a horrible person. I don't know what happened. But whatever happened to that person man. I need to get some of that. That's the fruit the growing fruit that's evidence of our deeper relationship with the Lord. And when it boils down to it this passage connects back a couple chapters to where it says. You cannot serve God and Mammon. You have to choose one. Each of us has a different walk. The Lord does not require or ask from each of

31 us to sell everything. But he does require all of us to prioritize him above everything else. So the question you should ask is this. The question is not should I sell everything the question is this? What is it that I am unwilling to give up if the Lord asks it of me? and that's the one thing that you would find out that Yeshua turn and look at you and say go do this. Because if there's one thing that we're unwilling to give up. that means that we've prioritized that ahead of the Lord

17 trust in the Lord with all of your heart lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths find that in Proverbs chapter 3. He will direct your paths in other words. Maybe he reveals to us the rest of the journey. And maybe he doesn't. But what is it that we have in our lives today? What let's go back to the pre the misconceptions. What misconceptions do we have today that prevent us from seeing what God would have for us. and secondly

03 Sometimes it really is God who says you don't need to know that yet. But do our pre our preconceptions are misconceptions. I have that wrong do our misconceptions do they ever cause us to miss? Anything that God has for us. I think that's another question. We need to ask in our own lives. What are our expectations about our walk with Yeshua and our journey to our ultimate destination? What do we expect that walk to be do we expect to walk with Yeshua from here to Jerusalem and then sit upon a throne exalted high and lifted up immediately. Do we miss the fact that there are miles and

50 miles and miles of suffering and trial and tribulation and persecution that lie between here and there. to be in God's presence You need to come to him. In a posture of complete and utter humility and self surrender. and all of that comes in the phrase trust in the Lord so if you take one thing away from this whole Passage you take away trust in the Lord.

39 and everything else Will work its way out? As long as we trust in the Lord. avinasha, Mayim Our Father in heaven Lord we come to you on this Shabbat. Lord we all. Have our preconceived misconceptions. Lord we all have our issues. Have our areas that we are unwilling to surrender to you. Lord I ask that today on the Shabbat that you would speak to us. That you would illuminate within us. Whatever that issue is. Whatever the whatever it is. That's keeping us from

24 following you completely. Lord we recognize that sometimes you don't always reveal. the depth of the journey that we're on but perhaps you only reveal the next couple steps. Lord we recognize and we trust in you that you will guide us. That you would walk with us. And that you are directing our steps. Lord we trust that, you know everything along the way. We bless you and we praise you and yeshua's name. I mean may the Lord bless you and keep you may the

10 Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Give our recognize. They should. ref ere CA there's some lesson.
