Rabbi Shawn Moir

About Shawn

Rabbi Shawn was born and raised in Long Island, New York. He came to faith while studying aviation in college. Valoreena, who would become his wife, helped lead Shawn to faith.

He became involved with leading campus ministry, youth ministry and various worship teams. After graduating from Farmingdale State University of New York with a B.A. in Aviation Administration, Shawn and Valoreena moved to Springfield, MO. Shawn earned a Master’s of Divinity from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and served in various ministries, including a Messianic congregation. Shawn and Valoreena had two children, Annabelle and David, during their time in Missouri.

Shawn’s involvement with Messianic Judaism sparked controversy within his Jewish family. They decided to hire an anti-missionary to de-program Shawn and bring him back to normative Judaism.

After about a dozen debates with the anti-missionary, Shawn began to sense a calling to reach out to Jewish people and follow Yeshua within the context of Messianic Judaism. He and his family moved to Southern California and planted a Messianic community. During his years in Southern CA, Shawn had an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies at Fuller Seminary and earned a Doctor of Ministry in Messianic Jewish Studies from The King’s University.

In 2014, Shawn and his family moved to Texas to serve as the director of education and worship leader at Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue. He was later ordained as a rabbi by the elders.

Rabbi Shawn enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, reading, writing, teaching and exploring nature.
