0:50 This is shibata a wonderful day. You know, sometimes there's a little bit of confusion because during pesach. Oh, thank you. because sometimes Pace off. Is referred to as a Shabbat. and Then you don't know if the scriptures talking about pay soft when it talks about Shabbat or Shabbat. We're talking about Shabbat. Both are true. I happen to lean towards the ladder. Shabbat is such a special day. In fact in Leviticus 23, which we're going to look at in just

All the holidays are observances or the moadem the appointed times of the Lord. all of them right there on Leviticus 23 And the first one listed is Shabbat we often forget that. Shabbat is observed every week all the other observances or the appointed times are observed once a year. So I would say. That but is very important. Which brings me to a story? a few of you have already heard this story before but

Yeshiva students Seminary students in Israel Yeshiva students who were ultra-orthodox and they were walking down the road together and they were Talking and they began to boast about their their rebbe their rabbies, you know, they have different three different. More than a rabbi. A rabbi is like the like the head of the rabbis or the head of the community. And and so so the first one says oh my rabbi. He was walking one day. And He Came Upon a lake. Which would cause him to divert?

4:50 Shabbat very important I wanted to share this morning. from several scriptures, but I want to start in the book of Exodus chapter 12. We read some some part of that in the Torah portion today. That's another story. However Pesach is a time when? God says to the people of Israel

6:24 now the reproach of the Egyptians will be rolled away from you or removed from you. Because of all that God did for Israel. The 10 plagues that Deliverance the blood of the Lamb, etc, etc. And by the way You know the story already because we've been living it this week. But when the Jewish people or the sons of Israel were the Hebrews obeyed the Lord implied the blood of the Lamb which is which was to protect them from the 10th plague. the death of the firstborn they did so on their homes, it was visible.

7:10 It was visible to everyone. And you may or may not know this, but I'm sure you do. that there were some Gentiles some Egyptians some other some other Gentiles who were living in Egypt. Who also believed God believed Moses word and they also applied the blood? to their homes And they were also delivered from the death of the firstborn from that plague. And because of that. Egypt the pharaoh wanted all of them out of the land Jews

7:56 and Gentiles alike. Of course the majority were Jews. But during that time God removed the reproach. the reproach the shame the the awful things that were not only being said to Israel, but being done to Israel by the Egyptians. Let's see. There we go. 8:43 And Community this was the day. The day of Deliverance. There was the day that Israel as a nation was birthed. We came down to Egypt as 70 people. We were a family a community. But during the 400 years in Egypt. We multiplied. And became at least two million probably more. And during that time. We were enslaved. Not for the whole 400 years, but shortly after Joseph died. one of the brothers so this represents this birth of Israel as a

9:30 nation represents a time for a new life. And a time to be part of a community that we call the household of God or the household of faith if you will. And it ranges from pesach at the beginning. Genesis 12 tells Exodus 12 tells us that pesach is the first of the months. And fact, that's what it is. We celebrate New Year in the seventh month. But biblically speaking pesach is the first day of the new year. Because it was the birthday. If you will of the nation.

10:18 So I want to look at historic issues that are pertinent to this idea. salvivic issues with that means salvation and eschatological issues the things of the future that pertain to piss off So let's look at it. So this is Leviticus 23 in a graphic. Here you see you have Shabbat. It's listed first. I'm not putting it right in the circle because this circle Is what determines our yearly calendar?

Why because God said Work for six days, but on the seventh day, you must rest on Shabbat you rest, and we know from the scriptures that God rests on that day. So we literally are resting with him. We cease from our labors. from our creative work So I want to focus. On whoops. Sorry I want to focus. Does this thing we're yeah, there we go. 11:51 and Rashid. however We need to include in that Shavuot, which is the red button. Because Shavuot is almost like a continuation of this one week. Of pesach pesach is one week long seven days in the diaspora outside of Israel Jews celebrate pesach for eight days. We just like to add. You know an extra day. Actually, it's it has to do with timing originally. It was determined that the time of the full moon was determined in Israel in particularly in Jerusalem. And when you're outside of Israel You're not sure exactly if you're

12:39 seeing the full moon from the same perspective as you would from Jerusalem, so there was an extra day added just to make sure we're getting it right. So so some of us celebrate to saters. One on the first night and one on the second night. I did Growing Up. We still do it in our family. But in Israel, it's seven days. Only one seder the first night. And after seven days you get to eat leaven again. So we begin with that set of first three in yellow. And I'm going to focus on that. Then Shavuot or Pentecost which comes 50 days after? seven weeks after

13:26 and then there's a whole summer. when there's no no biblical Biblically mandated holidays. There are holidays, of course, but not in Leviticus 23 and then in the fall We have Yom teruah which people call Rosh Hashanah Yom. Torah does not mean happy New Year. Yom, terua means that day of blowing the shofar. And so the shofar is blown on that day. Rosh Hashanah means the head of the year, but literally It's the seventh month not the first month. It's it's like July not January. if if that helps you then there's

14:13 a 10-day period and we come to Yom Kippur which is the day of atonement. And another five days on the 15th day of the month. There is Sukkot which is the last of these levitical. ahmohadeem or appointed times Now all of these and I'm resting here for just a moment because it's Shabbat. No because I want it. I just want to explain a little bit to you about this. Is history. Everything that we see here. was done literally in history so

14:58 piss off meant the Deliverance of Israel out of the land of Egypt we became a nation. and at Shavuot In Leviticus, I believe it's Leviticus. Maybe 17 chapter 17. I can't quite remember. It says in the third month. They arrived at Sinai and they received the Torah. so the third month after leaving Egypt We come seven weeks later to. Shavuot and we receive the Torah. Now just to be clear I'd like you to understand that the Torah that many people call law.

15:45 And some people say there are 613 of those. 612 literally but there's an extra one put in. And those were counted by men. Those were not the 10 what we call the ten words of the Ten Commandments. Plus there were many many more Commandments and ordinances and all added up to about 612 or 13. but the actuality is what we received at Sinai. Was the Ten Commandments? That's what we got. Remember tablets Moses. The golden calf all of that.

16:31 The first set of Ten Commandments were broken. because of idolatry in the camp Moses had to go back up again. I still don't understand how the guy fasted for 40 days the first time and again for 40 days the second time. Had to be Supernatural. But he received the Ten Commandments again brought them down. They were placed in the Ark of the Covenant later on. And and so we celebrate the giving of the Torah. on Shavuot now, this is history. I'll tell you as I'll related to the New Testament just a moment. Yom teruah the blowing of the shofar was

17:17 an established way of gathering the people Get and there were God in his wisdom. Gave us 10 days. To get to Jerusalem. and if just remember most of the people were walking not You couldn't hop into your Ferrari? or your Jeep and most of the people didn't have a lot of money in Israel. It was an agrarian society. So people didn't even have horses some had donkeys. If you were a king you probably had horses. So it takes about 10 days of a walk from the farthest reaches of Israel to get and walk

18:04 to up to Jerusalem. It could take a little less in that but you've got to have a time to catch your breath and take a shower. Before Yom, keep poor. And what is Yom Kippur? It's the day of atonement. And the whole nation would gather. not literally every single person but at least the representative of every family or every tribe would Gather in Jerusalem. And they would receive the nation would receive atonement as a nation. This is not individual salvation. This is atonement for the sins of an entire nation.

18:50 And then finally if you made it through that Judgment Day, which was really a savant a saving day. Atonement was provided then you come all the way to Sukkot. Which celebrates? in one sense the memory of walking through the wilderness when we lived in tents or Sukkot but in another sense it is the time. when we welcome the king of Israel So let me go back. And go beyond history and talk about salvation. I want to talk about personal salvation and atoning

19:36 salvation. So you have pesach. the week of Passover But the hapasa can also be the offering of pace-off not just the holiday. That's what it says in Hebrew. So when you when you come you have to bring or offer. A lamb can be a goat, but generally thinking it's about it's a lamb. And you offer the lamb historically speaking. You already know the story The Lamb was taken into to the family's home four days prior to offering it. And then it was offered.

20:21 A one-year-old lamb that was without blemish and we had to check it out. Make sure it was out without blemish. It was offered that's his history, but in terms of salvation. Every individual family every home. Every household had to offer its own lamb. Every household every individual had to put the lamb. on the doorposts and the excuse me the lentil the Cross Beam. of the door so that it was visible. so that when the death angel came judgment came God would see it and

21:09 pass over that house with his judgment. with death This is the same. application that we make which is sometimes lost in the greater world of Christianity. This is exactly what God calls us to in Yeshua. every individual needs to take the blood of the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world who takes away the sin of the world and apply it. So that when judgment comes and judgment is coming. As sure as it was in Egypt, it's coming to the

God is going to judge the Earth. when God sees the blood of Yeshua on our hearts He will see that we are. saved or safe You know, and I hate to relate this to like a game, but then we get to move forward a step. You apply the blood then you get to move forward a step and part of that step is matzah, which is observing the time that God commanded us to Remember by eating unleavened bread.

22:42 And then during the week this is during the seven day period we have another little mostly unknown observance, but it's in Leviticus 23 you can read it. It's called Rashid. or firstfruits and if I if I was going to relate it to Salvation, I would tell you that Yeshua died on Passover was buried on matzah. And was raised from the dead. On Rashid during the week of Passover. As the first fruits of the dead now you read First Corinthians again with this in mind and it'll make a lot

23:29 more sense to you. But in the church world This was rejected and mostly lost. So now we call it Holy Week. But sometimes because Passover and the Jewish. mohedem Are scheduled by the moon and not by the Sun? Sometimes we could celebrate the resurrection of Yeshua a month before we celebrate the death. according to Passover according to pesach and the Jewish calendar This year it happens to work out pretty well.

24:14 We just had we just had our seder to remember Passover. and tomorrow we are going to remember the resurrection. So then shovel out. Is yes, it's the giving of the law, but it's also Pentecost in the Greek. Which also means seven seven weeks 49 days 50 days. It's a day after the 49th day. Which makes it 50 and the Bible's it's so funny because when you read the Bible, it's assumes that you don't know any math.

25:00 So it says seven weeks shall pass and it's the day after the Shabbat. And you count seven weeks. And then if you didn't couldn't figure that one out then it says you shall count 50 days. And Leviticus 23 you can read that. And Yom Kippur in terms of salvation. In terms of Yom to Yom, teruah is is the shofar blast. It's kind of an Awakening. You know, it's kind of an Awakening but what happens? when when you know what I'm going to save those because I I think I don't want to emphasize those those will come

25:46 in the fall. But let me just say that when we if you want to get to sue coat and the Return of the King. And be part of his Entourage you have to come through pace-off first. That's the door. You want to get to the Return of the King you want to get to return of Yeshua the king of the Kings and the Lord of lords and a good standing. You have to come through pesach. That's the door. That's the only way you can get in. You can't you can't come in the back door and just you know hop into Sukkot and think you can stay. you won't you have to come through the doorway of pesach.

And they and they are all. They are all related in the New Covenant. These are just It I mean I you know, I put First Corinthians 5 on there, but I didn't even need to you could read First Corinthians 15 and get the whole thing. with with this

Ancestral relationships with someone in his family and he says you have got to remove the leaven from your house. You've got to get that sin out. and and he says because

Yeshua's death. matzah unleavened bread represents the grave Yeshua is represented by the matzah, which you all saw during pesach. or most of you he's unleavened. He's without sin. In fact, I think the matzah is probably one of the best. real pictures of the Messiah of Yeshua better than any painting of ever seen.

And then finally the resurrection. and I want to Oh, and this all is in First Corinthians, and I it's really worth your while to read First Corinthians chapter 15. Because this is the weekend that we observe the resurrection. and the direction the resurrection of Yeshua and RAV shahul writes in there. If you don't believe that Yeshua was raised from the dead. Then your faith is in vain. It's worth nothing.

But it you know, we get the whole word Pentecost from Acts chapter 2, but it would they were really celebrating Shavuot. They were all Jews gathering in the temple. celebrating Shavuot and you know when we talk about Pentecost. You know, some people have taken that name like Pentecostals those sorts of things but Pentecost is for everybody. It's it's when the spirit of God was poured out just

32:43 like the law was given the spirit of God was given. in a very personal way and in if you look at James or yaakov chapter 1 verse 18 You'll see there where he says. That the brothers or the people who believe in Yeshua. Are the first fruits? as well, but it's a different word for first fruits. Here at pesach. We have the right sheet re-s*** in Hebrew comes from the word Roche. It means head. It's the initiation. So yeshua's Resurrection is the initiation of Resurrection. Everybody else comes after that, which is

And we're in the counting of the Omer isn't it? Awesome that we get to count up to 50 because that's how we count.

Or nearly it would be unleavened bread, but two loaves of bread made with leaven. The only time in this Torah that God commands anything to be made with leaven to be brought before him. What is leaven represent sin. I like to view it as Jews and Gentiles both sinful who are brought together somehow by the blood of Yeshua. Ephesians chapter 2 and presented before the Lord

That was only supposed to be for. the people of Israel but let's go on. No, Foreigner should eat of it. But wait a minute. There's a loophole in this. There's a way out.

37:23 but every man's servant purchased with money after you have circumcised him then he may eat of it. In fact, it doesn't even have to be a servant. It said it goes on and says a Sojourner. Or a hired servant. Should not eat of it. So even somebody who's in Israel for a while visiting. you know during the Three month Visa that you're allowed to stay in Israel. Should not eat of the Passover. That's what that that's what this is saying. So it gives pretty big restrictions and why?

38:08 Well, it's celebrating the birth of the nation of Israel. And it was meant for the people of Israel but a few verses before this it says a mixed multitude left Egypt with Israel. So there had to be a provision. That's why this is being addressed right now there had to be a provision. Okay, what do we do with the Gentiles? Excuse me for sounding so blatant. So blatant here or blunt. But that was exactly the question that was Acts asked in Acts 15. Acts 15 Gentiles were starting to come to Faith in Yeshua and the Jews said wait a minute pesach how you know, what do we do with the

But the ultimate solution that was presented to the to the to the Jewish brothers and sisters that were there. Was the answer was no. Gentiles don't have to be circumcised. At least not in the flesh.

39:42 but everybody everybody has to be circumcised of the heart. to partake in Passover You think I'm making that up? Just let's read. A Sojourner a higher servant shall not eat of it. It is to be eaten in a single house. These were the instructions to Moses to is to Israel. You know the lamb. Had to be eaten in a single home. And if you're home, if your people if your home was too small if your population of your home was too small you had to bring in other people to create

40:27 a home. Or if your home was too large you had to get a bigger lamb. I love Isaiah chapter 49 here. Where it's set talks about the Messiah. and it talks about how he Is too big I'm gonna say of a lamb. He's too big of a lamb for Israel only. You read this in Isaiah 49. He's too big for Israel. Only the Messiah is too big. He is going to be. The glory of Israel, but I will also make him a light to the Nations. So God's intent is

41:14 a big house Israel. We need to spread our tent pigs. God intends something greater. Than salvation only for Israel. He wants all the nations. He wants all who will come to him. with circumcised hearts So all the congregation of Israel is to celebrate this. But if a stranger now another word, there are three different words for sojourners strangers, and here's another one.

41:59 Now this word, but if a stranger sojourns. So the Hebrew here is it's not a play on words, but it uses the same word dare. to talk about sojourning and to talk about the person who is so turning. To talks about the journey and the person whose journeying who's outside of Israel coming in. It says but if a Gare or a stranger. yagur sojourns with you and celebrates the Passover to the Lord. Let all his males be circumcised and let him come near to

42:45 celebrate it. And he shall be like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat of it now. Wait a minute. Don't don't before you think God has some sort of prejudice or bias. Way to you hear the next verse. the same law shall apply to the native Israeli. as to the stranger who sojourns among you so for some of you who perhaps have not.

You know, you've been under my care. And he said I have made you. goy kadosh I made you goy is the word that we generally understand as Nation or Gentile. He says I've made you Israel goy the difference between Israel and the other nations is the word the next word. He uses kadosh.

44:21 Israel's a nation like any other Nation? But the difference is kadosh. Holy. I have made you a holy nation. Why because he wants this holy nation to be a light to all the other nations. In fact, this is inherent in our nature as Jews as sons of Abraham, Isaac Jacob and the Twelve Tribes. this was this was commanded by God and imparted by God to be part of our nature. That is to be a blessing to all the families of the Earth. all

45:09 it's funny how we always view God as being exclusive. But let me maybe I can help you change that God is inclusive not exclusive. He wants to include. When somebody is not in the family, it's by choice. It's not by rejection. by choice not by God's rejection but by human rejection So I so you've heard this these instructions from the Torah. I want to go to Joshua five because we see Joshua chapter 5. We have a wonderful example right here.

They didn't do any. They were under God's judgment. They didn't do any circumcisions. They didn't celebrate Passover. in the wilderness Even though God was in our midst we didn't do it. But when we crossed the Jordan into the land of promise. You know what happened? God said, hey every male among you need to be circumcised and you need to celebrate Passover and exactly

47:29 what happened. and Joshua chapter 5 I'm going to begin in verse. Well, first one it came about when all the kings of the amorites who were beyond the Jordan. To the west and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the Sea heard how the Lord had dried up the Waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until they had crossed. That their hearts melted. And there was no spirit in them any longer because the son of the sons of Israel and at that time the Lord said to Joshua make for yourself Flint knives.

And I would say that the people who were circumcised that were delivered out of Egypt. the man of course 20 years and older who were in the army and refused to obey the Lord. You know, there were. 10 Miracles after the ten miracles of Egypt there were 10 miracles in the in the desert on the way to Sinai. and

49:54 when we got to Kadesh barnea. Which is at the very south the tip of the negative. God said go in and take the land I'm with you. and you know the story of the spies 10 spies said no two said yes, Joshua and Caleb and and the people sided with the 10. and God's judgment came and he said okay. That's what you decided. I'm really upset with you that you decided that but that's what you decided. All of you are going to die in the wilderness. Did it ever Dawn on you to think that the Wilderness wandering? was one long 40-year funeral

50:45 people thought were dying every day from unbelief. That that was the cause unbelief. A lack of trust in the Lord's and his word and the Lord's word. So it requires circumcision. of the heart that's that's Trust. so in verse 7 Joshua circumcised everybody and their children whom he raised up in their place Joshua circumcised. For they were uncircumcised. Because they had not circumcised them along the

Now it came about when they finished circumcising all the nation. and that and they remained in their places in the camp who wants to move after your circumcised I mean In the camp until they were healed.
